Conventional wisdom says children can simply turn to their school or public library for the books they need to engage in the learning process. But the reality is that due to severe budgetary constraints, libraries that serve these children can’t buy an adequate amount of books to support an enriching environment. Many libraries have seen their budgets cut dramatically or have been given no budget to acquire new books for years at a time.
Turn The Page Inc. was founded in 2003 to give children access to new and recycled books that can help them to achieve their dreams. We provide current, relevant books and reference materials to Illinois libraries in need. We work diligently with library staff, teachers and community members who also believe that through books you can add volumes to a child’s future. |
Words From Our Founder
There is a book for every interest at every stage in life. However, most impoverished families can’t afford to purchase books.
I created Turn The Page Inc. to encourage those enjoying book affluence to share their gently used books to create influence in children’s lives. We then distribute these books to public and school libraries in IL where they will be accessible to the widest audience.
Our hope is that when the children are exposed to a diverse variety of material, they will find something that will delight them and spark their desire to be lifelong readers. We feel that in addition to creating opportunites for respite and enjoyment, books contain information children need for future self-sufficency and advancement.
Someone once said, “The road to knowledge begins with the turn of the page.” We welcome your help to provide children access to this road.
